Story of Mozilla
Is a one of the major technical words among the technical persons. Mostly when you are talking about open source technologies you may essentially use Mozilla with you. Today we are going to see what it the strange of this word Mozilla.
Why It Was Needed for the World?
After few times from the
discovery of the computer, software were used to perform all the actions
within it. At the first, computer was used only by specific experts on their
computers mostly on labs for some specific needs. And those programs were
written or hard corded simply on early programming languages directly for their
needs. After that era of development, personal computers were rapidly spread among
the users.
So, the previous simple programs
were not enough to fulfill the needs of the personal computer users. It was
needed to implement several software that is more capable, more functional and
easy to handle by the normal users for their day to day works with their
limited programming knowledge.
Even though the computer
inventors were used to make their operating systems and the software which can
be run on their devices by their own like Apple Inc. (1976) it was the
beginning of standing up the software industry as a giant separately by the
hardware inventions. software were invented by several organizations like
Microsoft (1975) for the usage of outsource computers by paying the software
cost for them.
Within the rapid revolution of
few more years, software became to play the major role of computing sector.
The terms “software”, “Software Engineers” and “Software Companies” were
appeared as major affecting components not only for the computing sector but
also for the world economy as well.
At that time the “software” become the most commercialized item of the world. But these close ended developments were not sufficient and suitable for fast growing software industry. World needed to make a support of all programmers on the world for the development of software industry. By reasoning that “Open source software” appeared by making free and open ended development for the users of them. The “open source” label was created at a strategy session held on (February 3rd, 1998) in Palo Alto, California, shortly after the announcement of the release of the Netscape source code.
How Mozilla Was Introduced?
It was the time that “Mozilla” (www.mozilla.org) has introduced the world. The
Mozilla project was created in 1998 (Originally on 31st of March
1998) with the release of the Netscape browser suite source code by the members
of Netscape. It was intended to harness the creative power of thousands of
programmers on the internet and fuel unprecedented levels of innovation in the
browser market.
Over the years, Mozilla received contributions from around the world, and not only the Netscape but also the third parties have used the code for their own purposes. The Mozilla community uses, develops, spreads and supports Mozilla products, thereby promoting exclusively free software and open standards, with only minor exceptions.

In 1998, the source code of the
entire Netscape Communicator package was made available to developers, all the
users and Mozilla.org was created to act as a clearing house for contributions

source environment. The name of Mozilla, was first the code name for the
Netscape Navigator Web browser and Netscape's first alligator-like mascot.
Mozilla stood for "Mosaic Killer," because Netscape wanted to reign

into the Mozilla Foundation, an independent non-profit organization supported
by individual donors and a variety of companies to provide support for open
source projects. It was the beginning of the development of Mozilla-based
products.
Mostly Mozilla used to serve as a reference platform for standards compliance and quality control. They have provided the open source web browser and related tools for it. And it was intended to develop them in open ended manor by any kind of users or the programmers from the world.

With this excellent support of

Main Mozilla Technologies
Mozilla 1.0
As I have shown above, the developing Mozilla organization hands on it’s open source development by Mozilla 1.0, the first major version, was released in 2002. By using Gecko rendering engine they have implemented several facilities for mailing and browsing for that. But it was not able to win the choice of most of the users of time.
Phoenix
Then, Phoenix version was also
released by Mozilla community members. Later it was called “Firefox”. And it
can be considered as the beta version of the “Firefox”. Basically Firefox is a
free-to-use web browser.
Firefox 1.0
Then after some period of open
source development Firefox 1.0 was officially released on November 9, 2004. It
was the time that Microsoft is ruling the software industry. As the browser
they have introduced the “Internet Explorer” (Which may have discontinued
recently) and it was the choice of people at that time. After the release of
Firefox 1.0 it was a good alternative solution for Microsoft Internet Explorer
6.0
Firefox was good for protecting them from spyware and malicious websites. As the time went by in 2017 Firefox went fourth-most popular browser after Google Chrome, Apple Safari, and UC Browser. Firefox has first introduced some amazing features such as tabbed browsing with individual processes per tab, popup blocking, private browsing, phishing detection, and a sandbox security model.
Firefox Quantum
Firefox Quantum the new version
of Firefox, was launched at November 14, 2017 by Mozilla by ongoing technology
stacks. For the desktop users they have started Firefox Quantum version 57. And
still it’s going at the present also. Mobile versions use the new appearance
features ("Photon UI"), but not the underlying technology.
Firefox Quantum were updated
using Mozilla's system programming language by providing enhanced thread
safety. So that, Firefox shows good capability of multiprocessing on the
computers. Also it cost less temper memory of the computer and made very fast
browsing as well. Firefox’s dominance was attributed to the stealing of users
from Internet Explorer by Google’s Web browser, Chrome, while Firefox’s share
remained steady at more than one-third of the market. Chrome soon surpassed
Firefox in popularity in Europe and worldwide.

using by the Gecko to render the user interface for the Mozilla Suite, Firefox,

Mozilla Sunbird
Mozilla has developed, stand-alone calendar program based on the once
Calendar extension for Firefox, Thunderbird, and the Mozilla Suite for the
requirements of the time and it was launched as Mozilla Sunbird. But this is
still on development as well. The functionalities are still developing and for
the users who require e-mail and calendar integration can use the Lightning
extension. Lightning extension is also on development on primary stages. Users
who require e-mail and calendar integration can use the Lightning extension. (only
alpha test builds available to the public). Unfortunately, the Calendar
Extension, which Mozilla Sunbird is based on is no longer actively developed by
the programmers. That development began at OEOne Corporation (Axentra) and the developers
were supported by Oracle (US), Sun Microsystems (Germany). Also the Mozilla is looking for any volunteers
and donations openly for the development of this.
Camino
Mozilla has developed this specially by optimizing for MacOS X with
Mozilla’s Cocoa user interface. Implemented with much more features. But now Camino
is no longer being developed after a long time of development and servicing the
people, and Mozilla is encouraging all users to upgrade to a more modern
browser and also the people who were contributed this are helping to improve
the web for Mac users. Unfortunately, now the Camino is less talkative and less
usable topic among the software engineers because, Camino is increasingly
falling behind the web's rapid pace of change. So that, it is not receiving
security updates, making it increasingly dangerous to use.
Minimo
It is another new product by Mozilla foundation specialized for mobile
or handheld Web browser for devices. Minimo has implemented with small code
tacks (CPU light) which may help to have less run time and efficiently perform
minor needs by using less RAM with small devices.
